Helping Afghan Students Navigate the Visa Process

With the increased number of Afghans who have fled their country of origin and are now seeking higher education opportunities in the United States, a broad array of campus stakeholders are eager to help them find paths to study, teach or conduct research. Drawing on lessons learned to date about what works and what doesn’t, as well as leveraging new guidance from the State Department to consular officers about “residence abroad’ and “present intent to depart,” this webinar provided campus officials, faculty and administrators with resources to help advise Afghan students who are eager to secure F or J visas to come to the United State to study or conduct research. This webinar is intended to provide perspectives and resources to help institutions support students through the visa process but does not constitute legal advice.
