This webinar will address how resettlement agency case managers, refugee service providers, and state refugee coordinators can identify HUD resources to serve newcomer clients. The webinar will describe HUD’s recent engagement with refugees and dispel common misconceptions about HUD. Additionally, it will provide contextualized information about working with refugees navigating various housing markets and describe key voucher programs HUD offers for newcomer populations in the United States.
After participating in this 60-minute session, you will be able to:
– Describe HUD’s engagement with refugees over the past two years
-Recognize common misconceptions about HUD
-List HUD’s short-term and long-term rental assistance programs that are appropriate for newcomers
-Explain how to locate and connect with local HUD field offices, public housing agencies, and HUD-approved housing counseling agencies
