Lauren Bowden is an experienced direct service provider who has helped low-income adults from diverse backgrounds transition into the workplace and advance in their careers. She currently serves as a Technical Advisor of Economic Empowerment at the IRC, providing technical assistance to workforce development, microenterprise, and financial capability programs throughout the United States. Lauren first joined the IRC as an AmeriCorps volunteer and then served for five years as the Career Development Coordinator at IRC Atlanta. She concurrently worked as a Transition Specialist for the Technical College System of Georgia, where she helped adult education students transition into the workforce. During her graduate studies, Lauren was an interfaith chaplain at a women’s prison and participated in anti-death penalty advocacy work. She holds a master’s degree from Emory University and a BA in English Literature and World Religions from Hendrix College.
