Supporting Refugee Students and Families in Home-Based Learning

Refugee service providers can play a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic to foster equity of access to home-based learning. Now more than ever, providers need to liaise between families and schools, help bridge the gaps between them—be they cultural, linguistic, or otherwise—and advocate on behalf of families for the education system to fulfill its duty to equitable access. Taking these steps is essential to ensuring tens of thousands of refugee children and youth are not left behind in the transition to home-based learning. This information guide suggests ideas for getting started.
