Gender analysis gathers critical information on the lived experiences and unique needs of clients of all genders. It helps staff to understand risks to safety and access, particularly for women and girls, and to develop strategies to mitigate these risks. This information guide describes what a basic gender analysis is, its core concepts, and provides the 5 steps of a basic gender analysis: determine scope, complete brief desk review, conduct gender-specific focus group discussions (FGDs), analyze data using project risk matrix, and action plan.
