Designing and Implementing Equitable and Inclusive Surveys

Hosted on August 26, 2021, this training was delivered by Floor de Ruijter, Senior Program Officer for M&E, Switchboard; and Lila Suboh, Senior Program Officer for Measurement, IRC.

Do you know how to design surveys that are both inclusive and effective? Do you want to build your knowledge of client-responsive monitoring and evaluation (M&E)? This webinar defined equitable and inclusive data collection and describe how these approaches contribute to strong programming. It covered key steps to design and implement equitable surveys among refugee populations, including creating a data collection plan, developing inclusive survey questions, and pre-testing and piloting your survey. Participants also walked away with practical approaches for equitably analyzing, interpreting, and using survey results.

This webinar is aimed at staff whose roles include monitoring and evaluation (M&E), data collection, and/or survey design, or any staff interested in growing their understanding of these topics. If you want to know more about designing equitable and inclusive surveys in refugee resettlement contexts, this webinar is for you.

By the end of this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Define principles of equitable and inclusive data collection;
  • Name steps to design and implement surveys among refugee populations; and
  • Describe best practices for analyzing and using results with equity and inclusion in mind.
