Rainbow Response: A practical guide to resettling LGBT refugees and asylees

Year Published:

Abstract

This guide includes information on understanding sexual orientation and gender identity, creating a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, and intersex (LGBTQI)+ participants, community integration, and on providing direct services, legal services, and mental health services to LGBTQI+ clients. By acknowledging the unique circumstances under which LGBTQI+ refugees arrive and considering how their backgrounds and experiences will inform each service, interaction, and referral, service providers will successfully respond to a refugee community that has for too long been hidden.
